Richard Graves

Richard was born in Letchworth Garden City, where he still lives...!!! He took up the Cornet at the age of 14 - and joined the Letchworth Garden City Brass Band.

In 1975, he went to study Trumpet at the Trinity College, London. Upon graduating in 1978, he was invited to be the Principal Cornet of the Luton Band - a position he has held ever since. Richard also studied conducting and has been the M.D. the Royston Town Band and Ware Brass. Until recently, he was the M.D. of the Rushden Windmill Band in Northamptonshire.

A founder member of the Rod Blake Big Band and the Sovereign Brass Quintet, Richard now leads our very own Midnight Dance Orchestra & Jazz Band (MDO&JB).

Currently a partner in a small local business, Richard has previously worked in music retail, specialising in Brass instruments and mouthpieces. 'Arturo' (as he is affectionately known !!) is a Trumpet/Cornet/Flugelhorn instrumentalist, playing at weddings, shows etc. and has numerous radio & television broadcasts to his credit.

Richard is a fully qualified Woodwind & Brass instrumental teacher and has references available to any prospective pupil.
