Dave Lewis

Dave was born and bred in North Wales into a family of brass banders. He was given his first brass instrument, a cornet, at the tender age of 7 when he was taken to the local brass band, Tywyn Silver (Prize) Band, by his father. By the age of 10, Dave was playing Eb Bass having spent some time on the Tenor Horn.

Dave arrived in Watford in 1972 and became a member of the then Watford Silver Band in 1976. When he first joined the band the only instrument available was the BBb Bass.

Dave left Watford Silver Band to play with the Hillingdon Borough Band (now Denham Hendon Brass Band) and the Ercol Furniture Works Band. At Hillingdon Dave expanded his brass instrument experience further to the Baritone.

Dave rejoined Watford Band in 1992 having bumped into old band mates at Watford Football Club and was registered just in time for the Area Championships at the Watford Town Hall. Since being back at Watford Band, Dave has been a very enthusiastic and hard working committee member and was the band's Chairman for many years. Dave has recently moved from playing BBb Bass to Euphonium.
