Amy Cross

Amy started her musical career at the early age of 7, but it wasn't until the age of 10 that she first picked up a brass instrument. One month after her first trumpet lesson, Amy joined the then Hosier & Dickinson (Watford) Band in 1991, playing in the B band under the guidance of Brian Harrison. By this time Amy was already involved in singing and had sang and played on stage at De Montfort Hall in Leicester.

In the band, Amy switched from trumpet to cornet and was making her way up the back row, reaching the position of Repiano before leaving the band to take up studies at University College, Northampton in 1999.

Away from the band Amy was very much involved in the school music scene, participating in the wind band, jazz band, singing in the school choir and performing in school musicals. Amy also became an active member of the West Herts Wind Orchestra. It was through this involvement that Amy can claim to have played in two of the UK's biggest venues; The Barbican and the Royal Albert Hall.

Whilst at university Amy concentrated on her studies before joining Daventry Brass in 2001, playing 2nd Cornet.

Amy returned to the fold of Watford Band in June 2003 initially playing Solo Cornet before switching to Solo Horn and then finally to the Flugel horn which she has taken to like a duck to water.
